MPSC Examination Pattern:

Maharashtra Public Service Commission Exam consists of 3 stages which are divided into Prelims, Mains and Interview session. The detailed examination pattern of the exam is given below:
Prelims: There are 2 papers in the Prelims examination. both are objective type

Interview:Marks: 100

The candidate will be interviewed by a Board who will have before them a track record of his/her career. He/she will be asked questions on general subjects. The purpose of the interview is to examine the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in civil service
The MPSC interview is intended to evaluate the intellectual calibre of a candidate. In broad terms this is truly an evaluation of not only his/her intellectual qualities but also social characteristics and his/her awareness about current affairs. Some of the qualities to be examined are mental alertness, balance in judgement, clear and logical explanation, variety and depth of interest, capability for social cohesion.
The method of the MPSC interview is not that of a rigorous cross-examination but of a natural, though aimed and purposive dialogue which is intended to disclose the mental qualities of the candidate. The interview is not meant to be an examination either of the specialized or general knowledge of the candidates which has been already examined through their written papers. Candidates are expected to take a logical approach not only in their special subjects of academic study but also in the events which are happening around them both within and outside their own state or country

Selection Procedure: The combined competitive examination comprises the following successive stages

  1. State Services prelim examination (Objective type) for selection of candidates for Main Examination, and
  2. State Services Main Examination (Objective type) for diverse categories of various posts and services.
  3. Interview.
