The idea of a National Defence Academy was perceived in 1945. The first Prime Minister of Indian, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone of NDA on 06 Oct 1949. It is the first institution in the world, to give combined training to the cadets of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force.
